- Sow directly outdoors between March and May, 12mm deep.
- Alternatively, sow seeds indoors in individual pots.
- This allows for faster germination and earlier flowering.
- Maintain a temperature of 20–23c. Seeds typically germinate in 14-21 days.
- Gradually acclimatise the seedlings to outdoor conditions before planting out, after the risk of frost has passed.
- Protect young seedlings from slugs and snails, especially during early growth.
- Provide support if needed, staking the stems to keep plants upright.
Sunflower ‘Teddy Bear’ is a compact variety producing large, fully double golden-yellow blooms with a dense, rounded head. Perfect for the front or middle of beds and suitable for exposed locations, it also makes an excellent cut flower.
