Sweet William ‘Double Mix’ is a striking variety producing clusters of single and bi-double blooms in a vibrant mix of colours. The large, fragrant flowers are on long stems, making them perfect for cutting as well as for adding colour to beds, borders, and containers.

  1. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost from February-April.
  2. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors after the last frost onto prepared soil.
  3. Keep at 12-15c, germination occurs in 14-21 days.
  4. When seedlings are large enough, transplant into 8cm pots.
  5. Grow on in a cool greenhouse or bright windowsill, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
  6. Gradually acclimatise plants before moving them outdoors.
  7. Plant out in full sun, in moist, well-drained soil, spacing 60cm apart, once all risk of frost has passed.
  8. If sown directly outside, thin to 25cm apart, replanting usable thinnings.
  9. Sow under glass between May-July for flowering the following year.
  10. Deadhead regularly to extend the flowering period.
