- Sow seeds directly outdoors from March to May where they are to flower, once the risk of frost has passed.
- Sow 5mm deep in well-prepared, finely raked soil.
- Keep the soil lightly watered until germination, which usually takes 4-6 days, with seedlings fully emerging within 14-21 days.
- When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to around 15cm apart.
- Thinned seedlings can be replanted.
- For a longer flowering season, sow in succession every few weeks.
- Cut back plants once flowering finishes to prevent excessive self-seeding.
