Scorzonera Long Rooted Maxima. Commonly known as Black Salsify, this variety delivers heavy yields of very long roots of outstanding for flavour. The long black-skinned roots have a very delicate and subtle oyster flavour, real delicacy. Grows as a very long black tapering root rather like a thin parsnip. Easy to grow. The roots keep well in the ground over winter.

- Sow thinly in 1cm drills 30cm apart from April-Jul.
- Deep stone free soil preferred.
- Do not sow on recently manured soil.
- Thin to 10cm apart.
- The thinning’s do not transplant well.
- Keep weed free and water during very dry periods
- Harvest from Aug as required through till Mar.
- Flavour improves after last frost.
