Ribwort Plantain (Plantago lanceolata)

A short rosette forming perennial herb with spikes of blackish-brown flowers with yellow anthers with leathery ribbed leaves sprouting from the base of the plant.  Ribwort plantain is probably the most constant and widespread component of natural and semi-natural grassland in Britain. It is found in all but the most acid grassland from tall meadow communities to grazed pasture, lawns, sea cliffs and sand dunes.

Cultivation advice Ribwort Plantain (Plantago lanceolata)

Best sown directly outside to its growing location in early to mid-spring after the last frost has passed.

Seeds should be scattered directly over prepared soil. If sown on established grass this will need to be heavily scarified first
