- Start the seeds indoors in late winter to spring.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, well‑drained seed compost and gently press in.
- Don’t cover the seeds as they require light to germinate.
- Keep consistently moist at an ideal temperature of 18-24c while germinating.
- Seeds usually germinate in about 10-21 days, depending on conditions.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into trays with spacing around 5cm.
- Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions.
- Plant out after the danger of frost has passed, space 10-15 cm apart in their final position.
- Choose a sunny or partly shaded, well‑drained site.
- Cut back faded flowers in midsummer to rejuvenate the plant and encourage continued flowering.
Lobelia ‘Crystal Palace’ is a very compact, dwarf annual with rich blue flowers and striking bronze foliage. Its neat, ball-shaped habit makes it a favourite for borders, beds, and containers.
