Heuchera sanguinea (Coral Bells) ‘Firefly’ is a perennial with vibrant red, bell-shaped flowers held above attractive foliage. Ideal for borders, containers, or rockeries, it blooms from late spring into summer and attracts pollinators.

  1. Start the seeds indoors January-December.
  2. Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, seed compost.
  3. Don’t cover as light is needed for germination.
  4. Place in a heated propagator between 18-27c.
  5. Seeds will usually germinate within 14-60 days.
  6. If germination doesn’t occur, cold stratify for 4-6 weeks before returning to warmth.
  7. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
  8. Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
  9. Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
  10. Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
  11. Space plants about 30cm apart.
  12. Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
  13. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming.
