- Start the seeds indoors January-December.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, seed compost.
- Don’t cover as light is needed for germination.
- Place in a heated propagator between 18-27c.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 14-60 days.
- If germination doesn’t occur, cold stratify for 4-6 weeks before returning to warmth.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
- Space plants about 30cm apart.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming.
