- Plant between September-November, before the ground freezes.
- Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with moist, well-drained soil.
- If the soil is heavy, loosen it to a depth of around 10 cm.
- Mix in organic matter to improve drainage and soil quality while helping the soil retain moisture.
- Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole around 10–15 cm deep (approximately 2–3 times the depth of the bulb).
- Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
- Space the bulbs 10–15 cm apart.
- Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
- Water lightly after planting if the soil is dry.
- Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulb for the following year. The bulbs will naturalise and multiply if left undisturbed.
