- Start the seeds indoors from February-March.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost and lightly cover.
- Keep at a temperature of 18-20c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 10-21 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
- Space plants about 30-40cm apart.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Stake taller plants if necessary to support umbels.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming, or leave some to self-seed for the following season.
