- Start the seeds indoors from February-April.
- Soak the seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours before sowing to aid germination.
- Sow the seeds about 5mm deep in moist, well-drained seed compost and lightly cover.
- Keep at a temperature of 20-24c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 14-42 days but can be slow.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Grow on in bright, warm conditions, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a sunny, sheltered site with well-drained soil.
- Space plants about 45-60cm apart to allow room for growth.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming throughout the season.
Please note: seeds and all parts of the plant for all Datura species are poisonous and extremely toxic so always wash hands after contact.
