COCKSCOMB (PAMPASS PLUME) – CELOSIA ARGENTEA PLUMOSA. Perfect for a hot sunny border, Celosia also known as “cockscomb” produces masses of soft, feathery, erect 15-30 cm” long plumes in scarlet, orange, bright yellow, pink, cream on multi-branching plants. Excellent for cutting. Plant Height 60-70cm. Thrive best in full sun in a rich soil with plenty of organic matter.
Cultivation Advice COCKSCOMB (PAMPASS PLUME) – CELOSIA ARGENTEA PLUMOSA
- For early bloom, start indoors in a sunny window, or under cover with warmth 4-6 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Planting depth 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
- Thin and transplant when large enough to handle, growing on and acclimatising outside after all danger of frost has passed.
- Protect from slugs and snails whilst young.
