Clarkia Elegans Double Mixed
Clarkia Elegans Double Mixed. An easily grown annual which is excellent both in the border and for cutting. A wonderful mixture of brightly coloured shades of pink, lavender and white puffs of double flowers. A great cut flower, easy to grow, good for containers in part shade. Hardy annual that prefers sun and well drained soil. Grows to a height of 18in. (45cm) and a spread of 15in. (38cm). Clarkia have the name after Captain Lewis Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Cultivation Advice Clarkia Elegans Double Mixed
- Sow thinly undercover in trays from 4-6 weeks prior to the last frost
- under cover with warmth provided to aid germination.
- Thin / transplant when large enough to handle growing on in cooler conditions.
- Can be planted outdoors from April – May or September under cover.
- Sow seeds thinly directly into the growing position and keep moist.
- Thin to 6in (15cm) apart.
- To flower in May, sow them in September and provide protection with cloches over winter.
- Flowers July – October or May – June
