Broad Bean Grano Violetto Winter Hardy is an unusual winter hardy, early maturing Heritage variety and has an excellent flavour. The pods are 20 cm in length on 80-90 cm high plants. If you harvest the seed fresh it is green and dries to a deep violet colour as supplied. Sow from October to November or from February to March.

Cultivation Advice

Broad Bean Grano Violetto Winter Hardy – Cultivation Advice

Sow from early autumn to late winter in an open sunny site. Preferably on ground which has been manured for a previous crop.
Sow in double rows 7cm deep, 23cm apart in the row. Space the double rows 23cm apart and leave a distance of 40-60cm before the next set of double rows.
Keep free of weeds.
Pinch out the tops of the plants as soon as four clusters of bloom are showing.
Harvest the beans when the pods are well fat and the seed still soft. (This product is sold by packet weight – exact seed counts will vary depending on seed size per batch – seed counts above are an approximation only)
