- Start the seeds indoors from February-June.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and do not cover, as light aids germination.
- Keep at a temperature of 16-18c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 14-28 days, though some may take longer.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots or small clumps.
- Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed.
- Space plants about 20-25 cm apart.
- Water moderately during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Cut back old foliage in early spring to maintain a compact clump and encourage fresh growth.
