  1. Plant between September-November, before the ground freezes.
  2. Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil.
  3. If the soil is heavy, loosen it to a depth of around 10-15cm.
  4. Mix in organic matter to improve drainage and soil quality.
  5. Add a handful of grit or coarse sand to the planting hole to aid drainage.
  6. Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole around 10cm deep (approximately 2-3 times the depth of the bulb).
  7. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
  8. Space the bulbs 10-15cm apart.
  9. Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
  10. If the soil is very dry, water lightly after planting.
  11. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
  12. Leave the bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and multiply.
