- Plant between September-November, before the ground freezes.
- Choose a position in partial shade with moist, well-drained soil.
- If the soil is heavy, loosen it to a depth of around 10cm.
- Mix in organic matter to improve drainage and soil quality.
- Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole around 5-8cm deep.
- Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
- Space the bulbs 5-8cm apart.
- Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
- If the soil is very dry, water lightly after planting.
- Keep the soil lightly moist during active growth but avoid waterlogging.
- Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
- Leave the bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and multiply.
