Fritillaria meleagris ‘Plum’ produces bell-shaped flowers in rich plum shades with a distinctive chequered pattern. Ideal for naturalising, it thrives in borders, meadows and pairs beautifully with Camassia quamash.

  1. Plant between September-mid December, before the ground freezes. 
  2. If the soil is heavy clay, loosen it to a depth of around 10cm and mix in organic matter to improve the drainage and soil quality.  
  3. Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole which is 30cm deep. 
  4. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards. 
  5. Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.

– Plant in well-drained soil.
– The bulbs are known to be quite fragile, so plant carefully on their side to avoid moisture build up and prevent rotting.
– Deadhead regularly to encourage new growth.
– Leave the foliage to naturally die back to allow the bulb to restore it’s energy for next year’s blooms.
