  1. Plant between September-Mid October.
  2. Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole which is around 3 times the depth of the bulb height.
  3. If the soil is heavy clay, loosen it to a depth of around 10cm and mix in organic matter.
  4. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
  5. Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
  6. Allow foliage to grow after flowering to give energy to the bulb.
  7. Don’t cut back any leaves until it yellows naturally.
  8. Once the flowers have emerged in the autumn, pick the bloom in the morning from the top of the stem.
  9. Use tweezers to pull the stigmas out from the base and put them on clean kitchen roll.
  10. Leave in a warm, dry place to fully dry for 2-3 days before storing in an air-tight jar.
