- Soak your bare-roots in water for half an hour or more before you plant them
- Pot them up into 1L or 2L pots depending on root size in a good multipurpose compost or straight into the soil if it is diggable and not frozen.
- Make sure you don’t plant the peony too deep. Try to keep the growing points or buds about 2-5cm below the surface. Water well.
- If planting in a pot, place it somewhere outside in a sheltered position. Keep an eye on hem and check for slugs and snails as they grow.
- Once there is a good amount of growth, you can plant them in their final position in the border.
TIPS: Bare-root peonies will establish well and send out more shoots each year.
