Zinnia ‘Starlight Rose’

Zinnia ‘Starlight Rose’ is an AAS award-winning variety that produces striking white flowers with a deep rose centre. The bushy, dwarf plants are tolerant of heat, humidity, and drought, making them reliable for a wide range of garden conditions.

This variety gained international attention when it was planted extensively in floral displays at the Beijing Olympics. It continues to provide long-lasting colour in borders, containers, and can be used as a cut flower.

  1. Start the seeds indoors between March-May.
  2. Sow the seeds on the surface of moist compost and lightly cover
  3. Place in a warm area at a constant temperature of 20-25c.
  4. The seeds will germinate in 7-14 days.
  5. Once the seedlings are 5-7cm, transplant into individual pots.
  6. Gradually acclimatise the plants to cooler conditions.
  7. When the seedlings have formed 2-3 pairs of leaves, pinch out the tips.
  8. Plant out once the risk of frost has passed.
  9. If growing in pots, use a liquid feed every couple of weeks.
