  1. Plant between October-November, before the ground freezes.
  2. Choose a position in full sun with well-drained soil.
  3. If the soil is heavy, loosen it to a depth of around 20cm.
  4. Mix in organic matter to improve drainage and soil quality.
  5. Add a handful of grit or coarse sand to the planting hole to aid drainage.
  6. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
  7. Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
  8. If the soil is very dry, water lightly after planting.
  9. Don’t water again until spring unless the weather is warm and dry.
  10. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.

• Choose a location that receives full sun, ideally at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. This helps produce larger bulbs.
• After flowering, deadhead spent blooms to redirect energy back into the bulb and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing it to help replenish nutrients for next year’s growth.
• Avoid putting tulips and daffodils in a vase together due to daffodils letting out a substance that can prevent tulips from taking up water.
