Cosmos sulphureus Bright Lights

Cosmos sulphureus ‘Bright Lights’ produces bushy plants with vibrant, daisy-like flowers in shades of orange, yellow, and red above feathery foliage. Ideal for front of borders or cottage gardens and it attracts pollinators.

  1. Start the seeds indoors between March-April.
  2. Sow the seeds on the surface of moist compost and lightly cover
  3. Place in a heated propagator at a constant temperature of 20-25c.
  4. Alternatively, sow directly outside between May-June.
  5. The seeds will germinate in 7-21 days.
  6. Once the seedlings are 5-7cm, transplant into individual pots.
  7. Gradually acclimatise the plants to cooler conditions.
  8. When the seedlings have formed 2-3 pairs of leaves, pinch out the tips.
  9. Plant out once the risk of frost has passed (May-June).
  10. If growing in pots, use a liquid feed every couple of weeks.
  11. Tolerates poor soil, heat and dry conditions.
