- Start the seeds indoors from January-May.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost and don’t cover, as light aids germination.
- Keep at a temperature of 20-24c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 7-14 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Grow on in bright, indirect light, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a partially shaded site.
- Space plants about 25-30 cm apart to allow room for growth.
- Water regularly during dry spells, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
- Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier, more compact growth.
